Causes Symptoms And Treatment Of Candidiasis

This condition is caused by an organism known as candida albican which is a fungus. The organism thrives most in moist dirty conditions. It causes copious foul smelling discharge from the vagina. With itching as one of the most distressing overt sypmtoms, the vaginal area becomes inflamed, reddened and develop cracks or abrasions.

Symptoms of candidiasis

1. Serious itching of the vaginal area

2. Copious vaginal discharge

3. Tiny wounds in the vaginal area

4. Foul smelling odour from the vagina

5. The discharge is milkish in colour and appears in clumps

How does one get candidiasis

The vagina of a healthy woman can be contaminated by candida albican in the following ways

1. Sexual intercourse
The easiest mode of vaginal contamination by diseases is sexual intercourse. A male carrier of candida albican introduces the organism into the vagina of the sexual patner. The woman usually usually comes down with intense itching the next day and later, with copious vaginal discharge on the second day. Because of the discomfort of the urge to continue to scratch the vulva, it is not possible for one to hide this disease. Once afflicted, the itching associated with the disease must drive one to seek medical solution.

2. Poor personal hygiene
A woman can get Candia infection by wearing moist dirty pants or wearing one pant for too long a time. Thus it is advisable that the personal hygiene of all women should be of high standards. By so doing, contaminated pants are changed immediately and washed.
Women should try to press their pants with hot iron before wearing them. This is important because germs including Candia albican and others could contaminate the pants where they were spread outside. It is therefore pertinent to note that if your pant is wet, you should not wear it at all or else , you would be giving candida a chance.

3. Public Toilets
This is another common mode of contacting candidiasis. Exposure of the vagina to dirty public toilets could lead to infections with diseases other than candidiasis. Thus it is not advisable for a woman to sit comfortably on the seat of a dirty public toilet. If one must, the woman must ensure that the toilet is properly flushed and disinfected. It is even safer to use pit latrines than use a dirty water-system public toilet that is seldomly flushed and cleaned.

4. Use of common towels
Use of common towels is another mode of  transmission. When a woman uses a towel previously used by a sufferer of candidiasis, one gets immediately infected. It is therefore advisable for all women to have their own small, easily washable face-towels. These towels should form part of your essential traveling needs. Embarking on a journey without a face towel is as disastrous as using a dirty public toilet.

5. Prolonged use of antibiotics
The vagina of a woman has both bacteria and candida albican as commensuals. In other words, these organisms live in the vagina without causing troubles. But when ever one is exposed to prolonged treatment with antibiotics, the bacteria in the vagina are killed off leaving the candida albican to flourish and thus cause copious discharge.

6. During pregnancy
Apart from the fact that the vagina is usually wet owing to hormonal changes in pregnancy, there may occur in some women during pregnancy, increased sugar in the blood and in the urine which usually causes the candida albican in the vagina to flourish and hence, rampant cases of candidiasis in pregnancy.

7. Exchanging pants
Exchanging pants with your friends could expose one to the organism candida albican, though this is not a common practice but where women live together, it is possible to see them commonly sharing pants and underwears.

CAN A MAN GET CANDIDIASIS
If a man has sexual intercourse with a woman with candidiasis, he will become infected. Unfortunately men never bother about any disease that does not give them pains during urination nor causes pus to come out from the mouth of the penis. Candidiasis in men does not cause any of the above ie _ pus in the mouth of the penis and painful urination.

What Happens to a Man With Candidiasis

The commonest symptoms is itching ( scratching). The man usually feels as irresistible urge to scratch the whole penis and the adjourning areas. This itching is so intense that the skin of the penis could be wounded.

Furthermore, if a man is having sexual intercourse with a woman with bad candidiasis, he will notice tiny cracks in some parts of the penis during or after the intercourse. Such areas of abrasions will usually cause pains during bath when soap touches these areas.

Consequently, any woman any woman who allows a man to have sexual intercourse with her with unexplainable wounds, abrasions, cracks, ulcers on any part of his penis, that woman is actually inviting problems. These wounds could candidial ulcers or chancer of syphilis or chancroid etc.

Summarily, it is advisable to all men to see a trained doctor in this field when ever they notice unusual boils or ulcers or wounds or cracks or abrasions on any part of the penis or the pubic area before having any sexual intercourse with their patners. The same goes for the women.
Do not resort to self medication of any type. You could ignorantly be hiding a deadly sexually transmitted disease and spreading it to all your sexual patners, your husband or wife inclusive.
